PAL Mentor CoordinatorPosted: , March 18, 2010 The Nashua Police Athletic League, a non-profit serving youth since 1989, is seeking an energetic individual ready to implement and coordinate a new PAL mentor program. Responsibilities include: • Recruit adult/ peer volunteers for mentor activities. • Work actively (20- 30 hrs/wk) to implement and support all mentor activities. • Engage youth in assorted activities within PAL Center and throughout community. • Coordinate peer discussions and mentor activities. • Track all participating youth. • Develop and implement programming to promote crime prevention. • Involve law enforcement to advance positive relationships among youth and law enforcement. • Increase relationships and outreach with youth serving organizations. • Attend two mandatory National PAL Implementation trainings. • Conduct orientation and trainings for mentors and mentees. • Complete and submit monthly reports to PAL Director and National PAL. • Work in cooperation with National PAL and U.S. Department of Justice. • Complete national criminal background checks for all employees and volunteers. • Be prepared to start on April 1, 2010. The above is a grant funded position in cooperation with National PAL and U.S. Dept of Justice. Funding begins April 1, 2010 and ends April 30, 2011. Salary - $1150 per month for a 13 month period. High School Diploma Required. Previous experience with youth, after school programs, recreation centers, or similar experience is preferred.
